Face value is mostly irrelevant

The SIP stoppage ratio has hit a record high. Why? Phantom SIPs. These are SIPs registered by fintechs that never got triggered (i.e. no debit of money has occured) or stopped getting triggered but remained in the system.

SEBI circular in Jan stated that AMCs must delete such SIPs if not honored for 3 months. A spike in the reported stoppage ratio could be a factor of AMCs cleaning up their SIP books in order to come in line with the SEBI circular.
